I think people are overestimating our "achievements" thus far.
We've beaten a slightly misfiring Arsenal, a very limp Liverpool side, and a very poor Newcastle side.
We've lost at home to Leicester and Bournemouth.
If our midfield dictates terms (or at least holds its own) against Man City, then we can start to get excited.

In terms of something special, Bilic said after the match he wasn't sure if we'd be 5th or 15th - very honest thing to say imo and I totally agree.

Agree about the squad. The depth we have now is fantastic.
Disagree about the OS. If the first bit is true about the squad, then it's been achieved at our current home, and just goes to show what can be achieved with shrewd investment, rather than the terrible investment we've seen in recent years.

Let face it we should have beaten Burnmouth. We scored 3 but for 4 giant cock ups by our full backs.
Leicester shouldn't be underrated and Bilic was left a bit cold.

Definitely the makings of a good team, but don't want to get too excited just yet, as I still felt we let Newcastle get in to good positions too easily far too much and if they actually had a cutting edge, probably would have scored.
The pace we have now though is superb and we look top drawer on the counter which isn't something we've been able to say much the past 20 years.

I agree I think we have our best squad since I first started going 43 yrs ago. The last minute additions make all the difference. Payet will be massive if we can keep him fit and Song if he can produce his early form from last year.
I also think Moses and Antonio will prove to be big players for us.
The main difference with this squad than previously is that we were always rubbish in defence, not so now and Ogbonna is looking like he could be a huge player for us.
With the move to the OS, we could achieve more than we think this season and next.
A prolific top goal scorer is the main player to improve. I would add next season. I am not convinced by Carroll and can see him getting injured again the way he throws himself about. Valencia is too lightweight imho. Sakho is excellent but we need top quality to make the difference. Still we are better off up front than many a year and there should be no complaints with the service. We will see.

Had a great transfer window adding to a solid foundation.
Not felt this optimistic since Harry Redknapp's peak, and we look far more solid defensively.
